Spain awards ‘Are You Volleyball’

‘Are You Volleyball’ has received award at the Cine Lento Film Festival in Spain.

Directed by Mohammad Bakhshi, the award winning film grabbed the best film from Audience’s choice at the Spanish event.

The 15-minute short shows a group of Arabic-speaking asylum seekers who try to make their way to the border in an English speaking country, but they cannot keep going.

They get into a conflict with border guards every day until a deaf-mute child becomes a catalyst for better communication between the two sides.

The short has so far attended a huge number of international film events and won various awards including the Audience Choice Award at the IPAS Film Festival in Greece and the Best Short Film Award at the Changing Face International Film Festival in Australia.

Launched in 2011, the Cine Lento Film Festival has the intention of motivating people to transmit their ideas through images and give the public the opportunity to watch another type of cinema.

The festival went underway on November 7-10, 2019.
